Online Living Room Conversation: Peace Building in the United States

May 23, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm PDT

Free

May 23, 2019 @ 6:30 – 8:00 pm ET / 3:30 – 5:00 pm PT (adjust for your time zone)

The US has in many ways always been a divided society, but what is causing fierce political, social and ethnic divides in the United States today? Hate crimes and hate groups are increasingly visible, and political leaders are using ethnic identity, socio-economic identity — and an “us v. them” mentality — to create fear and increase polarization. How did we get here and what are the peacebuilding solutions for a country that has long been considered the world’s most stable democracy?

Check out the conversation guide. Some of the questions explored include:

  • Who is us and who is them?

  • How many friends do you have in other groups?

  • What should we expect from our leaders in terms of healing divisions?

You will need a device with a webcam to participate (preferably a computer or tablet rather than a cell phone).

Please only sign up for a place in this conversation if you are 100% certain that you can join – and thank you – we have many folks waiting to have Living Room Conversations and hope to have 100% attendance. If you need to cancel please return to Eventbrite to cancel your ticket.
