April 5, 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

In Person:  Alliance for Peacebuilding, 1800 Massachusetts Ave. NW, 401, Washington, DC 20036

Or Virtually:, or 669 900 6833 Meeting ID: 683 661 425

Joan Blades will discuss her organization Living Room Conversations, which seeks to increase understanding and common ground through conversations. As AfP is looking to the United States as a country with the potential for conflict, we consider Living Room Conversations a dynamic project with the potential to bridge divides in the US and internationally. We will discuss how the organization is working to help people connect in the US, and lessons learned for local and international peacebuilders.

Bio: Joan is cofounder of and, as well as coauthor of The Motherhood Manifesto and The Custom-Fit Workplace: Choose When, Where and How to Work and Boost the Bottom Line. Trained as an attorney/mediator with ten years experience as a software entrepreneur, Joan is also an artist, mother and true believer in the power of citizens and the need to rebuild respectful civil discourse and embrace our core shared values.
