America’s promise of liberty, opportunity and equality has drawn people from around the world. We have been a magnet for people that have been persecuted. Today there is a refugee crisis in the Middle East, Europe and Central America — families are fleeing for their lives. The United States is one of the largest resettlement countries in the world. Yet our doors are not as open as they used to be. What is our role? What are the limitations of that role?
