support living
room conversations

Living room conversations connect people across divides – politics, age, gender, race, nationality, and more – through guided conversations proven to build understanding and transform communities.

Your support helps us produce high-quality guides and thoughtful programming that focus on the most pressing issues of the day. Even though our model is open-source by design, it takes significant resources to make our work happen.

We rely primarily on donations from individuals like yourself and institutions to continue this important work. We currently receive no government funding.

I became a monthly donor to Living Room Conversations because efforts like this –– conversations that impact people’s lives in very positive, personal ways –– are often overlooked in favor of splashy, public work. It’s the best way for me to help Living Room Conversations grow and address the needs of people in their communities across the country.

75% of our funding comes from individuals. The remaining comes from institutions, as well as honorarium and fees from services.

3. Where does the money go?

About 90% goes to staffing—people are what make living room conversations work! Three percent goes to putting on our events and also field-building activities within the larger bridge-building movement. Seven percent goes to our fiscal sponsor (see q1).

4. Why should I give?

Living room conversation materials are free of charge. Our conversation guides and related resources can be used without payment. But, this does not mean there is no cost involved.
